Does my child need to see a counsellor?

I have extensive experience in counselling children and young people. Because children’s behaviour can change gradually, it’s often hard to judge how difficult things have become – and to pinpoint the reason for the change.
We may even try to excuse negative behaviour as ‘a phase’ which they will grow out of. However, if it has become a regular pattern (one which has continued over several days or even weeks), then it is in the child’s best interest to tackle what is troubling them.

Seeking help is a good thing, and shouldn’t be seen as having failed or let your child down – many young people – and you as their parent/carer – can benefit greatly from the support of an experienced, impartial counsellor.

A non-exhaustive selection of issues I can help children and teenagers overcome is:

  • Bullying
  • Drug or alcohol misuse
  • Physical abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Bereavement
  • Eating disorders
  • Anxiety and phobias
  • Unacceptable behaviour
  • Concerns about relationships and sexuality

Please feel free to contact me for a free, confidential introduction to the process of counselling children and young people. You will be under no pressure to take your enquiry any further.
